Helpful Quotes...

Some interesting/helpful quotes from some "baseball" people...

Justin Verlander (pitcher with the Detroit Tigers)... Question - if you could give a baseball player one piece of advice that would stick with them for their entire life, what would it be? Answer - "Don't get discouraged if things aren't going well. I was never the best... always middle of the pack, had to work my way up, all the way through college. You never really know when you are going to blossom. Just take your time and love the game. Play the game because you love it, not because you want to get to a certain level. And, if it's meant to be, it will be."

Kyler Burke (2009 Chicago Cubs Minor League Player of the year)...  On uniforms - "I like a slight bend of the bill in my hat. The straight bill cap doesn't look like baseball; it looks like you are going to the mall."

Nolan Ryan (Former MLB pitcher and Hall of Fame Player; holds the record for strikeouts in MLB history)... "I never go for a strikeout, it just happens."

Jason Beck (Former college coach; currently owns the Next Level, a company that works with student athletes and parents to help them prepare for college or professional baseball)... Question... What are some things you are currently working on at the Next Level? - Answer... "We work on the basics; hitting, throwing, running. But we also deal with nutrition, mechanics, and attitude. Sometimes attitude separates similar athletes in the mind of a coach. We work to strengthen a player mentally and emotionally because the most important pitch is the next one you make or face. And, as the old saying goes... "Body language always screams, it never whispers."
